Forty-five years ago today, Joe Meek shot and killed himself and his landlady. Before his tragic demise (seriously, it’s a pretty messed up story), he made a name for himself with his innovative production techniques and songwriting prowess; his catalogue ranges from country-western to surf rock to girl groups. So, to commemorate his work, I’ve put together a playlist of some of his best tracks.
